Markie Tonge, who goes by the name “Famos” in the music industry, was born in the Commonwealth of Dominica to Reginald and Theresa Tonge. Markie was the oldest son of 4 children - Alnur, Clarrie, Markim and Markie. Music was a large part of Markie’s life when he was young. But at that time, there wasn’t any clear direction as to where the love for music would bring him. He tried to mimic artists he’d hear on the radio. One day the inspiration came to him that singing was the road he wanted to take. Markie’s story is very inspirational. He was struck by a moving vehicle while on a bike at the age of 12. This accident bruised his skull which caused his brain to malfunction. He was brought to the United States’ Virgin Island to be treated. He spent a month at the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital in St. Thomas. Recovery was difficult as he would have to re-learn all his skills all over again – from baby to a 12 year old boy. His parents and family was Markie’s support during that time. Now at 24 years old, he’s been given a second chance at life and has found that focus to bring his story’s to the airwaves. Famos’ new lead single, “It’s OK”, is off of his debut CD “Take It Home”. It’s about long term relationships, romance and promises. This single was chosen to allow the audience to know who Famos really is. It highlights his passionate side and his most inner thoughts and feelings. This song is very emotional and is very sensitive. His vocals bring the emotion to this song with heavy instrumental accompaniment which hand holds the words with conviction. “Take It Home” will be released on July 10, 2010. Famos is working with A & R Select in West Hollywood, Ca. for a record deal, publishing, and licensing and/or placement opportunities.
